Stoke City have completed the £5million signing of Middlesbrough striker Tuncay Sanli. The Turkish international follows former Boro teammate Robert Huth in to the club, after the German defender completed a £5million move on Thursday.
Tuncay has played 68 games for his country and brings with him immense experience. The duo could be in the City squad for Saturdays game with Sunderland, pending permission from the FA and Premier League.
Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes told the clubs official website: “This is a fantastic transfer double for the club,”
“We are delighted to bring a player of Tuncay’s quality to the club because he had attracted interest from a number of big clubs, as indeed had Huth.
“Therefore, this is a powerful statement of our intentions as we look to move the club forward.”
The Potters boss Tony Pulis also revealed his delight at capturing the pair by saying:
“Tuncay is an exciting player with his pace and skill who will certainly get the crowd going. He is also a player of international calibre and a leader of his national team.”
“Robert Huth has great presence about him. He’s a big, strong defender and the fact that he has played nearly 20 times for Germany is some recommendation in my book. He’s one you know you can lean on.”
