AC Milan are said to be interested in signing veteran Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren this summer. The Rossoneri are looking to bolster their side after finishing a poor 6th in Serie A last season and their to-be new sporting director, Ricky Massara, is reportedly a big fan of the Croatian international.
Lovren started the World Cup final for Croatia last year, but has slipped down the pecking order at Anfield, with Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and even Joe Gomez appearing to be ahead of him. Matip and Van Dijk were Jurgen Klopp’s chosen centre backs for the Champions League final against Spurs earlier this month.
Injuries and niggles haven’t exactly helped Lovren’s cause either, but Klopp still regards him as an integral squad member, and it is reported that a bid around the £25m mark will be required for Milan to prise him away from Anfield.
Liverpool will not stand in Lovren’s way should he express a desire to leave, but it could potentially affect Klopp’s transfer window- 3 centre backs is too thin for a club involved in several competitions like the Reds are.
Lovren joined Liverpool from Southampton back in 2014 and has made over 100 appearances in his five year long stay at Anfield.
