Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been frozen out of first-team action at Manchester City under Roberto Mancini. Real Madrid, though, are keen to offer him an escape route with a six-month loan deal. Jose Mourinho has been facing a mini-crisis of sorts with Gonzalo Higuain set to miss the rest of the season with a back ailment. The absence of the Argentinian forward leaves Mourinho with just one recognized striker in Karim Benzema. The Frenchman is yet to win over his boss and Mourinho does not appear to have great faith in Benzema’s abilities.
Adebayor’s loan move to Real may well depend on Manchester City being able to sign Edin Dzeko. Mancini has earmarked Dzeko as the long-term replacement to Adebayor. If City are able to agree personal terms with the Wolfsburg player, Adebayor will be allowed to make a switch over to the Bernabeu. Adebayor is on a hefty pay packet of around £140,000 a week. Real Madrid have agreed to pay 100% of his wages. A lot of Premier League clubs are interested in signing Ade on loan, but they simply cant afford to match his wages.
