New Zealand defender Ryan Nelsen has announced that this month’s game against Manchester City will be his last for Queens Park Rangers. Nelsen joined the Hoops in the summer from Queens Park Rangers and had originally signed a deal till the end of the current season. However he has negotiated an early release from his contract in order to begin his job at MLS outfit Toronto FC, where he has been appointed head coach.
Nelsen agreed to stay on till the end of January in order to give QPR as much time as possible in the winter transfer window to sign a replacement centre half.
Nelsen has started 20 of QPR’s 23 games in the league this season.
