Newcastle goal machine Demba Ba is being linked with a January move to Liverpool. The Senegalese striker scored a brace against Wigan last night in his team’s 3-0 victory at St James Park. The double made it 10 Premier League goals this season for the 27 year-old.
Ba’s contract in the North East expires in 2014 and his representatives are in talks over an extension. Newcastle’s top scorer this season has a minimum fee release clause in his contract, believed to be set at £7million.
Newcastle would be powerless if another team met the minimum fee release clause and Ba wanted to leave. Liverpool’s need for attacking reinforcements is no secret and the Reds are interested in signing the former-West Ham star.
It remains to be seen if Ba is interested in a move to Anfield, but he could no doubt increase his wages with a move to the Reds.
