Norwich City have turned down a transfer request from star striker Grant Holt, the club have announced. Holt had an impressive 2011/12 Premier League season with the Canaries, leading to many calling for him to be included in England’s Euro 2012 squad. He was the second highest English scorer in the league, with only Wayne Rooney scoring more times than him.
The 31 year old Holt arrived at Carrow Road in 2009 and has won the club’s Player of the Year award thrice in succession.
Norwich finished an impressive 12th in the league during 2011/12 and manager Paul Lambert has already begun work towards strengthening his Canaries squad for the forthcoming season.
