Arsenal have officially announced that they have agreed terms with Manchester City for the transfer of midfielder Samir Nasri. There were rumours after the Liverpool game that Nasri’s move to Eastlands had broken down but they have now been put to rest with this official announcement from the Gunners that they have negotiated a transfer fee for the French star, who is out of contract at the Emirates at the end of the 2011/12 season.
Nasri therefore will not travel with the Arsenal squad to Udinese but will instead undergo a medical at City with a view to completing his reported £25m switch.
The departure of Nasri will come as a severe blow to Arsenal, who lost captain Cesc Fabregas just days ago to Barcelona. Wenger is expected to dip into the transfer market for replacements but a lot will hinge on whether or not Arsenal manage to qualify for the knockout rounds of the Champions League on Wednesday night in Italy.
