AC Milan playmaker Kaka has completed his switch to Real Madrid for a jaw dropping €65m. The Brazilian has put pen to paper a six year contract, and is now the world’s second most expensive player after Zinedine Zidane, who was signed by Real from Juventus for €76m in 2001.
Kaka is now officially the first new Galactico at Real Madrid. He is Florentino Perez’s first major signing.
Kaka said, “My desire was to stay at Milan, but the world crisis has affected clubs a great deal… I spoke with the Milan board and we concluded that the best thing for everyone would be if I was sold.”
Real are expected to pay Kaka around £8m a year in wages.
In purchasing power terms ( of the pound), the fee Real have paid for Kaka is more than what they paid for Zidane. In 2001, Zidane’s transfer was worth £46m, while Kaka’s transfer is worth £56m at today’s rates.
