Manchester City have extended their summer shopping spree by signing Serbian defender Aleksandr Kolarov from Serie A outfit Lazio. The 24 year old has signed a five year contract with City and has moved to Eastlands for a reported £19m transfer fee.
City faced late competition from Juventus for Kolarov’s signature, but the Old Lady could not compete with City’s deep pockets. Kolarov has also passed his medical and has been given a work permit.
Kolarov joined Lazio from OFK Beograd in 2007. He was part of the Serbian 2010 World Cup squad. A natural left back, Kolarov is also capable of playing in midfield.
Kolarov is the latest big signing for City, who have already acquired Yaya Toure, David Silva and Jerome Boateng in this transfer window.
