Close on the heels of the signing of Joe Cole on a free transfer with a £90,000 pounds a week contract, Roy Hodgson has completed his second signing is as many days in the form of Rangers youngster Danny Wilson. The deal was struck at £5 million. £2 million will have to be paid up front while the remaining £3million depends on appearances and performance at the club. Liverpool had been tracking the teenager for a long time before making an offer. Wilson was withdrawn from Rangers’ pre-season tour to Australia after they decided to accept Liverpool’s offer.
Wilson rose through the youth ranks at Ibrox before making his senior debut last season. In his very first season, he bagged the Scottish FWA Young Player of the Year award and the Scottish PFA Young Player of the Year award. Wilson became the youngest Rangers player to play in the Champions League when he made the lineup against Romanian side Unirea. He notched up 14 appearances for Rangers and even scored a goal in their 4-1 in away to Hearts.
It’s a very shrewd signing for Liverpool as the talented youngster is tipped to become a Scottish legend by pundits and fellow players alike!
