It’s been a very quiet transfer deadline day, and this is probably the best deal that has taken place today. Croatian playmaker Niko Kranjcar has been snapped up by Tottenham for a bargain price of £2m. Kranjcar had only one year left on his contract at Fratton Park, and manager Paul Hart decided to cash in because of Kranjcar’s reluctance to pen a new deal.
Kranjcar is the third Pompey player to follow Harry Redknapp to London from the South Coast, after Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch.
The 25 year old was signed by Pompey from Hajduk in 2006 for a reported £3.5m.
Kranjcar is now the third Croatian player at White Hart Lane, with Luka Modric and Vedran Corluka being the other two.
