Young Welsh midfielder Joe Ledley has officially completed his transfer to Scottish giants Glasgow Celtic. The 23 year has signed a four year contract with the Hoops and will reportedly earn around £25,000 a week at Parkhead. Stoke were also interested in signing Ledley, whose club Cardiff would have earned £3m in compensation had he chosen to move to the Potters instead of the Hoops.
Ledley now becomes Neil Lennon’s third signing of the summer market after Charlie Mulgrew and Cha Du Ri.
Cardiff City boss Dave Jones expressed surprise at Ledley’s choice and said that he thought that the talented 23 year old had wanted a move to the Premiership.
Because the move is a cross border one, Celtic will not have to pay a single penny to Cardiff in compensation.
