Leyton Orient have signed young Tottenham goalkeeper Lee Butcher on a month’s loan. Orient are currently struggling for keepers with regular number one Jamie Jones suffering from an injury he picked in his last appearance for the club.
21 year-old Butcher has had loan spells before but this will be his first taste of League One football. The Tottenham youngster could make his Orient debut for the reserves against Brighton tonight.
The O’s boss Geraint Williams told the clubs official website: “Jamie Jones has had two bangs on the head recently and the doctor feels it is best if he rests up for a couple of weeks to be on the safe side, so we’re delighted to offer a chance for Lee to join us,”
“We have close links with Tottenham and Harry Redknapp was happy for Lee to come here and he’ll be looking to get on the bench or starting while Jamie is resting up.”
Meanwhile Brighton will be taking a look at midfielder Gary Roberts and Nigerian striker Amadou Abdullai during the reserve game with Leyton Orient. Roberts was formerly with Crewe and Yeovil but has suffered personal problems and recently spent 26 days at the Sporting Chance clinic. He will now be hoping that he can get his career back on track. Abdullai was previously with SSV Ulm 1846 in the regional leagues of German football.
