Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in a winter move for Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck. The Eagles have had major issues in front of goal this season- they’ve only managed to find the back of the net twice in front of their home fans and are yet to win a home league game in six attempts in Selhurst Park.
With Welbeck’s contract set to expire next summer, Palace believe they can get the former Manchester United striker for a relatively cheap price in the January market, with the transfer fee said to be around the £10m mark.
Welbeck has started only one Premier League game this season under Unai Emery, and has mostly been restricted to 10 minute cameos off the bench. He has however been in the starting XI for all three of the Gunners’ Europa League clashes so far- against Vorskla, Qarabag and Sporting, as well as their EFL Cup ties against Brentford and Blackpool.
The 27 year old has managed five goals and an assist across 13 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners this season.
Palace are currently 14th in the league standings and will host Arsenal’s bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Selhurst Park this weekend. They drew 2-2 against the Gunners last month thanks to a brace from the penalty spot from Luka Milivojevic.
