Crystal Palace have officially announced the signing of Daichi Kamada on a free transfer. The Japanese international joins the Eagles from Serie A outfit Lazio and has put pen to paper a two-year-deal that will keep him at Selhurst Park till the summer of 2026.
The move also re-unites Kamada with current Palace boss Olivier Glasner, who was also his manager at Eintracht Frankfurt. The medio was at Eintracht for five seasons and was part of the side that won the Europa League in 2021/22.
Kamada started his senior career at Sagan Tosu in his native Japan before joining Eintracht in 2017. He had a short spell on loan at Sint-Truiden in Belgium before breaking into the German side’s first team squad, and made 179 appearances for them across all competitions before leaving for Lazio last summer.
The 27-year-old made 38 appearances for Lazio last season as the Biancocelesti finished 7th in Serie A. He also scored two goals for them. He has been capped by Japan at international level and was part of their 2022 World Cup squad.
Glasner has started fantastically at Palace, with some very impressive results towards the end of the 23/24 campaign. Kamada is their second signing of the summer after defender Chadi Riad.
