Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has ruled out signing a replacement for prolific Senegalese forward Demba Ba when the latter leaves Tyneside for the African Cup of Nations next month. Ba has already netted fourteen times for Newcastle this season and along with Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie, is seen as the Premier League’s in form striker at this moment.
But despite Ba picking up a majority of Newcastle’s goals, Pardew has ruled out signing an attacking replacement. The Tyneside outfit were widely linked with Sochaux frontman Modibo Maiga, but his proposed six million pound transfer across the Channel has broken down to medical problems.
However Pardew has said that he will work towards bringing in a defender next month to St.James’ Park.
