Top Italian sign Palermo are believed to ready to make a summer transfer move for Blackburn midfielder Morten Gamst Pedersen. The Norwegian international is a free agent in the summer when his contract with the Premier League club expires.
Scottish giants Celtic were believed to be ready to make a summer move for him as well before the departure of manager Tony Mowbray in midweek. He is also being tracked by Turkish side Fenerbahce. Blackburn are already holding contract talks with the 28 year-old.
He has been at club for six years since joining Rovers from Norwegian giants Tromso. He has made over a 150 appearances for the club, scoring 27 goals in that time. However speculation has increased in recent weeks that he will be leaving Ewood Park this summer.
Palermo have emerged as the favourites to sign Pedersen, as they are currently in the Champions League spots in Serie A. That means they would be able to provide the Norwegian with a bumper contract next summer.
Gamst Pedersen told NTB: “Rune (Hauge) takes care of the negotiations, I focus on the football. That is the best way and it’s going well at the moment.”
