Russian striker Pavel Pogrebnyak is close to signing for Reading, his agent Oleg Artemov has revealed to the press in Russia. The Stuttgart forward, who spent the latter half of last season on loan at Fulham, has “practically signed” for the Royals, in Artemov’s words.
Pogrebnyak was a hit at Fulham during his loan spell and the Cottagers were expected to try and work out a permanent deal for him in the summer. However the transfer didn’t materialise and Reading, whose owner Anton Zingarevich, moved quickly to secure the services of the Russian.
Reading won the 2011/12 edition of the Championship to win automatic promotion to the Premier League.
