Rising Portuguese star Renato Sanches has completed a move to reigning French champions Paris Saint-Germain, the capital outfit have announced. PSG have reportedly paid Ligue 1 rivals Lille a fee of around 15 million euros for Sanches’ signature, and he has signed a five-year contract (with the possibility of a year’s extension built into the deal) at Parc des Princes.
The transfer also re-unites Sanches with Christophe Galtier, the former Lille manager now in charge of Paris SG. He becomes the club’s fifth major signing of the current transfer window after Nordi Mukiele, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha and Hugo Ekitike.
Serie A outfit AC Milan were also reportedly very interested in the medio, but he has chosen to continue his career in France after three fairly successful seasons with Lille, one of which saw Les Dogues win Ligue 1. PSG also have a strong Portuguese speaking contingent which should help Sanches in settling in at Parc des Princes.
Apart from Lille and PSG, Sanches has also represented the likes of Bayern Munich, Benfica and Swansea in his career. The 24-year-old midfielder has already been capped more than 30 times by Portugal and was part of both their Euro 2016 and Euro 2020 squads.
