Championship strugglers Peterborough United have appointed Gary Johnson as their new boss. The former-Yeovil and Bristol City boss has signed a two-year contract at London Road and becomes Posh’s fourth boss of the season.
He replaces former boss Jim Gannon who finished his spell at the club with a 2-2 draw against Barnsley on Easter Monday. Johnson’s first game in charge will be at home to Leicester City at London Road on Saturday.
Johnson told Peterborough’s official website: “I have had a look around and I am looking forward to getting Peterborough back to the Championship. I am excited by the challenge.
“I went out to Orlando in America last week and the chairman (Darragh MacAnthony) sold the club to me with his enthusiasm, drive and determination. I am happy to respect anyone who puts money into the football club.
The club have already been relegated from the Championship having struggled to handle the step up in leagues after promotion from League One last season. New boss Johnson will now be looking towards next season and the 54 year-old has been promised cash to help the club bounce straight back into the Championship.
