French giants Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly weighing up a move for Man City star Riyad Mahrez if the Premier League outfit fail in their appeal against their Champions League ban. City have been banned for two years from the competition but have appealed in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Should UEFA’s decision be upheld, City potentially stand to lose several of their players, and Algerian winger Mahrez could be one of them, according to reports emerging from Italy and Portugal.
The 29-year-old joined City from Leicester last summer and is contracted to them till the end of the 2022/23 season. He has made 23 Premier League appearances for them this season, with seven goals and ten assists to his name.
PSG remain comfortably on course for yet another French league title- at the time of writing, the Parisians hold a 12-point advantage over second place Marseille. They’ve also reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League, overturning a 2-1 first leg deficit to see off Borussia Dortmund 3-2 on aggregate.
If the move does materialise, it would mean a return to France for the Sarcelles born Mahrez after a gap of six years- he was on the books of Le Havre before moving across the Channel to join Leicester in 2014.
