Hours after leading his side to a 4-0 win over Strasbourg, PSG manager Thomas Tuchel has been shown the door by his employers. The 47-year-old gaffer moved to Parc des Princes in the summer of 2018 and had six months left on his current deal, but was sacked by the Parisians on Christmas Eve.
Mauricio Pochettino is rumoured to be Tuchel’s likely successor- the Argentine has been without a job since Jose Mourinho replaced him at Spurs late last year. Pochettino has been heavily linked with both Manchester United and Real Madrid, but may be tempted by the immediate vacancy that has arisen in the French capital.
PSG are third in Ligue 1 currently, one point behind both Lyon and Lille. Champions League finalists last season, they also finished first in the “Group of Death” this season, edging both Leipzig and Man Utd to top spot in Group H. They will play Barcelona in the Round of 16 when the competition resumes early next year.
Pochettino had two years at PSG as a player and also had a season at Bordeaux. Should he take over at Parc des Princes, the likelihood of Dele Alli moving to PSG will increase, given the success Pochettino had with the midfielder during his managerial stint at Spurs.
