Brazilian striker Neymar has pledged his future to Paris Saint-Germain after inking a new contract deal that will keep him at Parc des Princes till the summer of 2025. Neymar’s original deal was due to expire at the end of the 2021/22 campaign, but with this new contract, he will stay in Ligue 1 till the end of the 2024/25 season.
While PSG have dominated on the domestic front, they haven’t exactly been able to do so on the European one, although recent results suggest they’re getting closer and closer. The Parisians reached the final of the Champions League last season before losing to Bayern, but beat both the Bavarians as well as Barcelona in this season’s knockout stages before going down in the last four to Manchester City.
PSG also have a new manager in Mauricio Pochettino, who will be delighted to have one of his key players commit to a new deal.
Neymar was the world’s most expensive footballer when he moved to PSG from Barca in the summer of 2017 for a whopping 222-million-euro fee. He has often been linked with a switch back to the Catalan giants, but this latest extension will put to rest those rumours for a while.
