QPR are on the verge of the shock signing of Real Madrid centre-back Ricardo Carvalho. The veteran defender is close to agreeing a season-long loan deal with the ambitious London outfit. The 34 year-old knows the Premier League well from his successful spell with Chelsea.
Carvalho has fallen out of favour with Real boss Jose Mourinho and will be allowed to move on in order to find regular first team football. QPR are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements, after they lost their opening Premier League game 5-0 at home to Swansea.
Another defender close to joining the Hoops is Tottenham centre-back Michael Dawson, who looks set for a £9million move from Tottenham. Dawson is now regarded as the fifth choice centre-back at White Hart Lane behind William Gallas, Younes Kaboul, Jan Vertonghen and Steven Caulker.
