Premier League QPR are in talks with Spanish giants Real Madrid about the transfer of midfielder Esteban Granero. Granero is now in the last year of his contract at the Bernabeu, after rejoining Real in 2009 from Getafe, who had bought him from Real the previous year.
QPR boss Mark Hughes is looking to strengthen his Hoops squad before the transfer window shuts on Friday. Granero has emerged as one of his top targets. The 25 year-old has previously interested the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal but it now looks like he could be heading for Loftus Road.
Meanwhile, one Rangers player who looks set to move on before the transfer window shuts is midfielder Joey Barton. The controversial former-Newcastle star has undergone the first part of his medical at French giants Marseille.
Barton is expected to complete his free transfer to the Ligue One side before the Friday night deadline. The midfielders future at Loftus Road has looked in doubt all summer, with him currently serving a ban for violent conduct picked up last season. It now looks likely that his future lies in France.
