Derby County are close to completing the signing of experienced midfielder Kevin Kilbane on loan from Hull City. The veteran Irish international is all set to join the Rams on a six month loan deal according to reports in the Derby Telegraph.
The 34 year old Kilbane, who can also play in defence if required, is Ireland’s most capped player behind Aston Villa stopper Shay Given. He had a loan spell at Huddersfield Town last season and was influential in their run to the League One playoff final, which they eventually lost to Peterborough United.
If Kilbane’s transfer goes through, he will become Derby’s ninth signing of the summer. Apart from Hull and Huddersfield, Kilbane has also represented Preston, West Brom, Wigan, Everton, Sunderland and Wigan in his decade and a half old career.
