Rangers and West Ham United have begun talks over a potential transfer of Croatian hitman Nikica Jelavic. Rangers were holding out for £10m for their star marksman but have now indicated willingness to step down and negotiate.
Sources indicate that the Hammers were prepared to offer £6m for Jelavic, an amount that Rangers have said is too low a valuation for their most valuable asset. West Ham boss Sam Allarydce had turned his attention to Jelavic after cooling his interest in Huddersfield’s Jordan Rhodes as he aims to get the London outfit back in the Premier League.
However the Hammers face competition from the likes of Sunderland, QPR and Liverpool, all of whom have been linked with a move for Jelavic this January.
