Reading captain Ivar Ingimarsson will leave the club after eight years with the Royals, the club have announced. Ingimarsson, 33, is one of Reading’s oldest serving player and was signed by Steve Coppell way back in October 2003 from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Icelandic star was part of the Royals team that narrowly missed out on promotion last month as they lost 4-2 to Swansea in the Championship playoff finals. He was Reading’s player of the season in 2006/07 and played every minute of their first ever Premier League season.
Other notable names joining Ingimarsson on the way out of Berkshire are David Mooney and Zurab Khizanishvili. Hal Robson-Kanu and Brynjar Gunnarsson may also leave the club if they are unable to renegotiate new deals, with the duo’s contracts expiring this summer.
