Premier League strugglers Reading have completed the signing of striker Nick Blackman from League One club Sheffield United. The 23 year-old has scored 14 times this season for the Blades and has joined the Royals for a fee in the region of £1.2million.
Blackman impressed Royals boss Brian McDermott in the two clubs FA Cup tie at the weekend. The young striker started his career in lower league football at Macclesfield and in 2009 moved to rivals Blackburn.
He struggled to break into the first team at Ewood Park and had various loan spells at the likes of Oldham and Blackpool. However, he eventually joined the Blades last summer and has helped his team challenge for promotion from League One.
Reading are not short on strikers with both Adam Le Fondre and Pavel Pogrebnyak having hit the target in recent weeks. Blackman will provide an extra attacking option for the side from Berkshire.
