Real Madrid have loaned out promising youngster Takefusa Kubo to cross town league rivals Getafe. The teenager was earlier on a season long loan at Villarreal, but that deal was terminated because of a lack of playing time at El Madrigal, and he has now been sent to Getafe.
Kubo had great success on loan at Mallorca last season but failed to replicate it at Villarreal under Unai Emery. He only started two league games all season, was an unused substitute for most of December, and was left out of the squad altogether in their most recent game against Levante.
Villarreal had beaten off competition from the likes of Sevilla and Real Sociedad to land Kubo in the summer, and had also paid Real a loan fee of around 2 million euros for his services.
While Emery’s side are fifth in the La Liga table, Getafe are a lowly 16th in the time of writing, having only collected 17 points so far. They play Elche away from home this weekend.
Kubo is contracted to Real Madrid till the summer of 2024, having joined them at the beginning of the 2019/20 season on a five-year contract.
