Real Madrid have officially completed the signing of highly rated Turkish teenager Arda Guler from Fenerbahce. Los Blancos will pay the Turkish outfit a fee of 20 million euros for the teenager’s services (more than his original release clause of 17.5m euros), with another 10 million payable in add-ons depending on player performance.
Guler has signed a six-year contract that will keep him at the Bernabeu till the summer of 2029. Fenerbahce will also have a future sell-on clause, reportedly around 20%.
The youngster came through the ranks at Gencerbigli and moved to Fenerbahce in 2019. He made over 50 appearances for them across all competitions in the just concluded 22/23 season- Fenerbahce finished second in the Super Lig and emerged winners in the Turkish Cup.
Guler has been dubbed the “Turkish Messi” by sections of the media, and made his debut for the Turkish national senior team as a 17-year-old last year against the Czech Republic.
With Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema having left Real in the summer and the likes of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric on the other side of 30, Los Blancos have a bit of a rebuilding job on their hands this year. Guler’s arrival comes just after the club signed Jude Bellingham from Dortmund.
