If reports from France and Spain are to be believed, Real Madrid are prepared to shell out as much as 400 million euros for Kylian Mbappe. The young French forward is contracted to PSG till the end of the 2021/22 season, but hasn’t penned an extension at Parc des Princes yet.
Mbappe’s desire to join Real Madrid and link up with Zinedine Zidane has been well documented, and the latter’s comments about Mbappe’s “dream move” in a recent press conference drew sharp criticism from PSG sporting director Leonardo, who accused the Real boss of attempting to “destabilise” the young forward.
If the move goes through, the fee would be nearly the double of what the Parisians themselves paid Barcelona for Neymar a few seasons ago.
If Mbappe’s transfer to the Spanish capital does materialise, the Parisians might target his national teammate Antoine Griezmann as a replacement. Griezmann hasn’t had the best of starts to his career at Barca since joining the Catalan giants in the summer from Atletico Madrid.
PSG are currently first in Ligue 1, but have already suffered three defeats in the league this season. They will host Lille at the Parc des Princes in their first game after the international break.
