New York Red Bulls have officially announced the signing of Australian star Tim Cahill from Everton. The medio moves to the MLS for a reported £1m fee and the transfer brings to an end his eight year stint at Everton, whom he joined from Millwall FC in 2004. He has made over 250 appearances for them and will now link up with the likes of Teemu Tainio and Thierry Henry, both of whom have played in the Premier League alongside him.
Cahill moved to England when he signed for Millwall in 1997. He has been signed by the Red Bulls as a “designated player” meaning that his wages will not form part of the Red Bulls’ salary cap.
