Liverpool have officially announced that Andy Carroll will be loaned out to West Ham United for the rest of the season. Carroll, an £35m purchase during the reign of current Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers’ predecessor Kenny Dalglish, wanted assurances of first team football, which Rodgers could not provide and has therefore been loaned out to the Hammers, whose direct style of playing under Sam Allardyce may suit the former Newcastle star more than Rodgers’ passing game.
Liverpool are expected to wrap up an attacking signing in the next 24 hours to augement their forward line, with one or more of Theo Walcott, Daniel Sturridge and Clint Dempsey expected to sign for the Reds.
