Liverpool have again decided to loan out Sepp van den Berg, with the young Dutch defender returning to the same club where he spent last season- Championship club Preston North End. The teenager will be at Deepdale for the entirety of the 2021/22 campaign.
Van den Berg’s previous loan spell saw him link up with PNE in February 2021 and he made 16 appearances for the Lilywhites in the league, seven of which saw the team keep a clean sheet. Originally a centre back by trade, he played mostly on the right side of defence for Preston and sometimes even in a more advanced position as a wing back.
PNE boss Frankie McAvoy has however indicated that Van den Berg is likely to be used in a CB role this season- more specifically as a right sided centre-back.
Van den Berg joined Liverpool from Zwolle back in 2019 but has made only four appearances for the senior team till date. He has been capped by the Netherlands at U19 level.
Preston finished 13th in the Championship last season, picking up 61 points from 46 games, 16 behind Bournemouth, who took the final playoff spot on offer.
