Liverpool winger Albert Riera could be offered an escape route from the Merseyside club with a loan move to the Russian Premier League. The Spanish international was placed on the transfer list for criticising Reds boss Rafa Benitez.
He referred to Liverpool as ‘a sinking ship’ and accused his boss of being a poor communicator. He has admitted that a move to Russia would be a attractive proposition. The Russian transfer window doesn’t shut until 8th April and he could be set for a loan move to Spartak Moscow.
He told Russian Sports newspaper Sport Express: “Russia presents a very interesting option for me,”
“For one, it’s the only prestigious league in Europe where the transfer window is open. And secondly, if I play there regularly, I may be able to earn my ticket to the World Cup in South Africa.”
Riera seems to be hoping that a deal can be completed to end his Mersey misery. Since his arrival at Anfield he has struggled for form and has failed to gain regular first team football with the Reds. He is expecting to exit the club on a permanent basis in the summer but a temporary move seems best for both parties involved.
