Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has given Robbie Keane the captain’s armband following his arrival at White Hart Lane from Anfield.
Keane takes over from defensive stalwart Ledley King, who only plays in important games because of a recurring knee injury. Both King and fellow defender Jonathan Woodgate have captained Spurs this season. Redknapp said that both the centre backs had no objections whatsoever to him making Keane Spurs captain.
Keane was signed back by Spurs for £12m on transfer deadline day a mere six months after he had been sold to Liverpool for £20.3m.
Redknapp said that Keane was a leader and had a personality to be a Spurs captain.
