Wigan Athletic have been given permission by Bristol City to discuss personal terms with striker Nicky Maynard after the two clubs reached an agreement over the 25 year old. The transfer fee in question, not publicly disclosed by either or the Robins or the Latics, is reported to be somewhere around £2m.
Roberto Martinez wants to add some firepower upfront and sees Maynard, who has been Bristol City’s highest scorer in the league for the last two seasons following his arrival from Crewe, as a potential solution. Maynard is out of contract at Ashton Gate in the summer and manager Derek McInnes is willing to cash in on his star forward in January instead of losing him for nothing in the summer.
