According to newspaper reports, Italian Serie A side AS Roma are prepared to offer Andriy Shevchenko a route out of London. The Giallorossi, who are currently £250m+ in debt, are in talks for a takeover, and may make an official approach for Shevchenko once their financial position improves.
Shevchenko, who has a year left on his Chelsea contract, has said that he will report for pre season training at Stamford Bridge in July. However, his future at Chelsea does not look very bright as Carlo Ancelotti, the man who chose to play him sparingly at the San Siro last season, has taken over the reins of the Blues.
Roma could also end up getting Tottenham Hotspur’s Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko. According to reports, German side Stuttgart will make a bid for the former Spartak Moscow star and then loan him out to Roma. The consortium that is expected to take over Roma later this week has close ties with VfB Stuttgart.
