Rosicky looking for new deal

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Rosicky is hoping to sign a new contract at the Emirates Stadium. The Czech Republic ace has just came back from 18 months of injury problems and was in the Arsenal side that hammered Blackburn 6-2.

His contract with the Gunners expires at the end of the season but the former Dortmund star wants to extend his stay at the Emirates in to next season. He has already talked to boss Arsene Wenger about the situation and hopes to open negotiations with the club in the near future.

“I spoke recently to the boss about a new contract,” said Rosicky. “We haven’t started negotiating yet and we’ll see what happens.

“I want to stay and my fitness is getting better and better. You miss the Champions League and the Premier League when you are out for so long.”

The 29 year-old is prepared to fight for his place now that he is back to fitness. He continued: “It’s always huge competition for places. When you can see how many offensive players we have – against Olympiakos, Eduardo, Nicklas Bendtner, Theo Walcott, Samir Nasri and Carlos Vela did not start – we have many, many options.

“I definitely think our squad is as good as all our rivals. Even when we lost twice in Manchester we made stupid mistakes and just need to learn from them.”
