Bristol Rovers have made their first acquisition of the summer in the form of midfielder Matthew Gill. The 30 year old has joined the Pirates on a free transfer after being released by newly promoted Premier League side Norwich City. Rovers were relegated from League One during the 2010/11 season and will be competing in League Two this season.
Gill started his career with Peterborough in the mid 90’s and spent seven years with Posh before moving to Notts County in 2004. He stayed at NCFC for two years before opting for a move to Exeter City. While at Norwich he had loan stints at both Peterborough and Walsall.
Gill has signed a three year contract with Rovers, whose immediate aim will be a return back to League One.
