Blackburn Rovers have rejected an offer from Argentine outfit Newell’s Old Boys to take Mauro Formica on loan till the end of the season. Formica, 23, joined Rovers on the final day of the January 2010 transfer window on a three and a half year contract, but hasn’t really set the stage on fire and is keen to seek fresh pastures.
But Rovers only want a permanent transfer and have reportedly slapped a €5m bid on the Argentine attacker, who is also a target for Turkish clubs Bursaspor and Trabzonspor as well as Russian outfit CSKA Moscow.
The statement regarding the rejected loan bid was made by Formica himself, with the Argentine admitting he would have loved a return to Newell’s.
