Newly appointed Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is busy deciding on the players he wants to bring into Anfield. Hodgson has singled out Aston Villa winger Ashley Young as his top target. The former Fulham manager is now waiting to see whether Martin O’Neill decides to let Young move over to the Merseyside. Young’s form over the last six month has not been exceptional. A spat with the manager saw him get less playing time and he also missed out on a berth in the World Cup squad.
Hodgson is also looking at Ivory Coast forward Gervinho to replace Yossi Benayoun who recently completed a £6million move to Chelsea. Lille have set an asking price of £10 million for Gervinho who cost them just £6.5 last season. The manager, on the other hand, has also allayed fears that Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard might exit the club. Steven Gerrard has been the subject of Real Madrid’s interest. Hodgson is unwilling to let his captain move to Spain.
