Reading have made an attempt to hijack Liverpool’s pursuit of Tom Ince after Brian McDermott confirmed to the Reading Post that he had made an offer for the talented youngster. Ince has been in excellent form for Blackpool this season in the Championship and has drawn the attention of several clubs, including Liverpool, the club from whom he joined the Seasiders back in 2011.
Reading were long linked with a move for Arsenal’s Russian forward Andrei Arshavin but seemed to have switched their efforts towards targetting Ince, who has been capped by England at U21 level.
Blackpool’s demand for an sell on clause has affected their negotiations with Liverpool, who are still said to be interested in Ince, the son of former Man Utd star Paul, despite the imminent arrival of Philippe Coutinho from Inter Milan.
