This January, as in every transfer window it seems, Liverpool have been linked with a number of top players. However, strengthening the squad is arguably more important than during any season in recent history, as the Reds look to sustain their challenge for the Premier League title.
The Merseyside giants have been closely linked with youngsters such Derby’s Will Hughes and Barcelona starlet Christian Tello. All of these would add inevitably add depth to Brendan Rodgers squad – which is currently lacking worryingly when compared to squads such as that at Manchester City or Chelsea – but Rodgers needs more first-choice options if Liverpool are going to keep up with those clubs.
Capable of playing out wide or as a main striker, Salah would provide Rodgers with cover for the injury-prone Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge, as well as with more experience than Raheem Stirling; all for a much lower price than Liverpool would surely need to shell out for Tello.
Liverpool have been much, much more clinical in front of goal this season, and a player like Salah would help to create even more opportunities for their lethal strikers to put away.
