Santos reject Chelsea’s bid for Neymar

Chelsea’s £17 million pound bid for Brazilian ‘wonderkid’ has been turned down by his club Santos. The Brazilian club have sent clear indications that they are not willing to sell their price asset below his release clause which is a staggering £29.6 million. Chelsea are expected to make another bid close to £20 million with the remaining fee to be paid depending on appearances and performance. Earlier this week, West Ham had made a £12 million bid for Neymar which was obviously turned down as well. Manchester City are also in for the teenager. In fact, while loaning Robinho on loan to Santos, they had included a first refusal on Neymar in the contract. That option runs out on August 4 though.

Neymar has been white hot in the domestic leagues scoring 32 times in 33 games. In the lead up to the World Cup, he overshadowed Robinho with his sublime skill and trickery. There was a huge outcry back in Brazil when Dunga overlooked him for the 2010 World Cup. Both his father and Robinho have advised him against a move to England at such a young age.
