Schalke are ready to offer Robinho an escape route from Manchester City after Barcelona decided against making a move for the Brazilian. Reports in Catalunya suggest that Pep Guardiola vetoed the Robinho move despite having funds at his disposal. Guardiola is expected to make moves for Mesut Ozil and Javier Mascherano.
Robinho who was City’s record £32.5 million signing last season is desperately looking for a move away from Eastlands. He is keen to strike another loan deal with Santos – the club where he spent the second half of last season. But Robinho’s wages could again prove to be an obstacle for the extended loan deal.
With Robinho likely to be left out of City’s 25-member squad for the Premier League, Schalke look in pole position to swoop for the striker. If Robinho transfers to Germany, he will be united with his Real Madrid strike partner Raul, who has signed for Schalke on a free transfer.
