Former West Bromwich midfielder Paul Scharner could be on his way back to England after Wigan boss Roberto Martinez indicated that he would like to bring the Austrian star to the DW Stadium. Martinez made the admission after his side’s 2-2 draw against Sunderland on Tuesday night and said that he would look to bring in a couple of players before the end of the window and Scharner, who played for the Latics between 2006 and 2010 was on his radar.
Scharner is currently plying his trade in the Bundesliga with Hamburger SV. He joined them on a free transfer earlier this season.
Scharner’s agent, Valentine Hobel, has also indicated that Sunderland could be a possible destination for his client. The Black Cats want to ideally sign him on loan till the end of the season.
