Notts County will be forced to sell highly-rated young goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel this summer. They have to sell the 23 year-old as they can no longer afford to pay his high wages. The Dane was signed when money was no object at the world’s oldest club.
However the mega-rich former owners got tired of running the club and the club need to cut their cloth accordingly. They are currently second in League Two and hoping for promotion. Schmeichel has helped their cause immensely. Notts County still owe Manchester City £500,000 after former-owners Munto Finance failed to pay for the bill for his signing.
New Notts County owner Ray Trew has put a £2million price tag on the former-Manchester City ace. Trew revealed: “I’d like to get £2million for Kasper. I think he’s worth that,”. Two Premier League clubs are believed to be chasing Schmeichel.
Trew wouldn’t revealed the identity of the two top flight clubs but there will be no shortage of takers for the young keeper. He is by far the biggest earner at the Magpies and his wages are closer to Premier League wages then League Two.
