Argentine striker Sergio Aguero has completed his switch to Manchester City. City have paid a reported £38m+ to Atletico Madrid for the services of Aguero, who is the son-in-law of Argentine legend Diego Maradona. City have not officially announced the transfer yet, but Aguero has tweeted that he is already a City player.
Aguero thus becomes City’s most expensive signing ever, eclipsing the £32.5m the club paid for Robinho in the summer of 2008.
The transfer brings to an end Aguero’s five year association with Atletico in which he cemented his reputation as one of the world’s best upcoming strikers. He crossed the 20 goal mark in four of the five seasons he spent with Los Colchoneros.
Only 23, Aguero is viewed by the mandarins at City as the ideal replacement for homesick compatriot Carlos Tevez, who is expected to leave Eastlands this summer.
